The key idea

For a developer living in Egypt, a non-EGP customer payment can be paid out by wire transfer in the currency of their own bank account at a local Egyptian bank, including EGP. EGP customer payments must be paid out in EGP. The receiving account must belong to the same person whose identity Gammal Tech verified.

Agree the payment currency with the work

Put the service, deliverables, price, currency and payment stage in the approved proposal or invoice. For a longer assignment, distinguish a deposit from a milestone payment or final balance. A payment link collects the agreed amount; your written agreement explains what that amount buys.

Discuss the currency before the client pays. If you want the option of a foreign-currency payout, the customer must pay in a supported non-EGP currency. Changing your receiving account after an EGP payment does not turn that payment into dollars or euros.

Choose how you want to receive the earnings

For an Egypt resident, Gammal Tech applies the following payout rule. The destination is your own account at a local bank in Egypt, and the transfer follows that account's currency.

A foreign client does not automatically mean a foreign-currency payment. The recorded transaction currency determines the rule, regardless of where the client lives or where their card was issued. Ask your bank for the correct receiving details and confirm the currency of the specific account you intend to use.

Activate the project in your own verified account

Current registration documents: Use the National ID of a country whose citizenship you hold, not a residence-only ID. An Egyptian passport is accepted only for an Egyptian living abroad without their Egyptian National ID available. An Egyptian birth certificate is accepted only for an Egyptian living in Egypt, under 15, who has neither a National ID nor a passport. Check the official registration requirements before applying.

Gammal Tech supports individual onboarding without requiring commercial registration. Create your account once and verify with your Egyptian National ID, using another document only if a documented Egyptian exception applies. One person has one account, and only that same verified person can receive its earnings.

After approval, sign in to the Console, open Developer Mode and create your project. Open its settings, set an HTTPS Payment Callback URL and enable payments yourself. The complete onboarding steps appear below.

A developer helping you set up the link should use your project when you are the person earning the money. Their bank account cannot receive a withdrawal from your account.

Example: a data analysis assignment paid in euros

Illustrative example: A data analyst in Tanta agrees to prepare a sales dashboard from a client’s supplied data. The proposal sets the reports, delivery format, review round and EUR price. The analyst shares a EUR card link and confirms the recorded EUR payment before beginning the agreed paid work.

The analyst has an EGP account at an Egyptian bank and wants the proceeds for local expenses. Because the client paid in EUR, Gammal Tech can send the withdrawal in EGP after conversion. A suitable same-name EUR account would instead allow a EUR payout. Neither choice changes the work or currency the client originally approved.

Confirm payment, deliver and reconcile the withdrawal

Check the payment in your Gammal Tech transaction records. Match the project, amount and currency to the approved order. A client screenshot or arrival on the return page alone is not confirmation. Resolve an unclear transaction before asking for another payment.

Keep the invoice reference, payment reference and delivery record together. When requesting a withdrawal, use your verified name and the bank's receiving instructions. Compare the withdrawal record with the eventual bank credit without treating the invoice value as the net amount you will receive.

Build the costs and records into your service process

Review the current fees, refund conditions and withdrawal terms before pricing. Transfer fees are deducted from the withdrawn amount, and conversion affects the amount credited when payment and payout currencies differ. Do not promise a particular net receipt without knowing those details.

Gammal Tech handles the VAT and tax responsibilities assigned to it under its service arrangements. Your own local tax and reporting duties remain separate. Keep the sale, delivery and bank records your activity requires. This workflow concerns your direct clients; work obtained through a marketplace remains subject to that marketplace's payment rules.

Common questions

Can I receive freelance payments without a registered company?

Gammal Tech does not require commercial registration for individual onboarding. You must complete identity verification and receive withdrawals in your own name. This onboarding policy does not remove the local obligations applying to your activity.

Can a client pay in dollars while I receive Egyptian pounds?

Yes. For a developer resident in Egypt, a non-EGP payment can be paid out in EGP to their own EGP account at a local Egyptian bank, after conversion.

Must my client pay in the same currency as my bank account?

No. Non-EGP customer payments can be converted into the receiving Egyptian bank account's currency. EGP customer payments are restricted to EGP payouts.

Can the client send an existing marketplace balance through the link?

This guide describes paying for your service through guest card checkout. It does not provide a way to transfer balances from a freelance marketplace or another payment provider.

Does a payment link create the customer invoice for me?

The link provides checkout for the amount and description you enter. Keep your own invoice or order record and connect it to the confirmed transaction and delivered work.

Enable payments yourself in Developer Mode

Once your identity is verified, you can configure your project and turn payments on from your own account:

  1. Create your Gammal Tech account once and verify your identity with your Egyptian National ID, using an alternative document only if a documented Egyptian exception applies to you. Earnings belong to that verified person, and withdrawals go only to an eligible bank account in the same name.
  2. Allow for account verification. The published estimate is approximately 10 days, with approval notification by WhatsApp or email.
  3. Sign in to the Console using your verified account.
  4. Click Developer Mode.
  5. Create a new project, then open project settings.
  6. Set the Payment Callback URL, an HTTPS page where customers return after paying.
  7. Enable payments in project settings. Payments remain off until the callback URL is set.
  8. Use the payment link generator to set your project, amount and currency, then share the link with your customer.

Review the current payment fees, withdrawal conditions and refund rules before setting your price. Transfer fees are deducted from the withdrawal amount. Ask customers to review the full checkout total, including the displayed service charge, before paying. Already verified? Start from the Console.
