The key idea

Vibe coding is a way of building software where you describe the result in everyday language and an AI model writes most of the code. It is fast for prototypes and small tools. It still needs you to test, to understand what was built, and to give the app a safe backend for login, data and payments.

What is vibe coding?

Vibe coding is a way of building software where you describe what you want in everyday language and an AI model writes most of the code. You run the result, say what is wrong or missing, and the AI changes the code. You guide the work by intention and feedback, not by typing every line.

The term was introduced in early 2025 by the AI researcher Andrej Karpathy, and it spread quickly. By the end of that year a major English dictionary had chosen it as its word of the year. Interest in vibe coding has grown fast among students, freelancers and founders in Egypt.

A useful picture: you are the customer describing a dish, and the AI is a very fast cook. The dish arrives in seconds. Whether it is safe to serve to your own customers is still your responsibility.

How vibe coding works, step by step

Most sessions follow the same loop:

  1. Describe the result. Say who the user is, what they do on the page, and what they should see at the end.
  2. Let the AI write a first version. Ask for one small working piece, not the whole product.
  3. Run it and look. Open the page, click everything, and read any error message.
  4. Give feedback in plain words. Paste the error, or describe what you expected to happen.
  5. Save a working copy. Keep each version that works, so one bad change does not cost you a day.
  6. Repeat with the next small piece. A product is many small pieces that each work.

Small steps matter. A request for a complete shop with accounts and payments in one message usually produces code that looks finished and hides problems. A request for one page at a time produces code you can check.

What can you build with vibe coding?

Vibe coding fits some projects much better than others. Use this table before you promise anything to a client or a supervisor:

Kind of projectHow well it fitsWhy
Landing pages, portfolios, simple business sitesVery wellMostly layout and text, easy to check with your eyes
Small tools: calculators, converters, quiz pagesVery wellClear input, clear output, quick to test
Prototypes to show a client or a supervisorWellSpeed matters more than polish at this stage
Apps with user accounts, saved data and paymentsWith careMistakes here expose users or lose money
Systems for health, banking or safetyPoorly without expertsThey need review, legal knowledge and tested code

The line between the third and fourth rows is where most beginners get into trouble. The screen is easy. The part behind the screen is not.

The part most vibe coded apps miss: the backend

An AI coding assistant can draw a login form in seconds. A real login is something else: it must check who the person is, keep them signed in, and protect everyone's data. The same is true for saving user data and for taking money.

Three problems appear again and again in vibe coded projects:

  • Secret keys inside the page. The generated code places a private key in frontend code, where any visitor can read it.
  • Home made passwords. The code stores passwords in a way a professional would never accept.
  • Fake payment success. The page unlocks the product because the address says success, without checking that money moved.

You can solve this in two ways. You can learn backend development and build these parts yourself, which is valuable and takes time. Or you can use a backend service that already does them and has no secret key to leak.

How to give your AI a ready backend with Gammal Tech

Gammal Tech is an Egyptian platform that gives a website user login, saved data for each user, an AI assistant, payments and owner email alerts through one script. There are no API keys. Your project has a public project ID, and requests work only from the website domains you registered, over HTTPS.

The whole guide is one text file, written so that an AI coding assistant can read it: the Gammal Tech guide. This is what makes it fit vibe coding. You give the guide to your AI, then ask for features in plain words.

Read https://api.gammal.tech/llms.txt first and follow it exactly. Add a Sign in button to my page. After sign in, save the user's chosen language and load it on the next visit. Do not invent any API key. My project ID is 47.

A correct result looks like this:

<script src="https://api.gammal.tech/sdk-web.js"></script>
<button id="in">Sign in</button>
<script>
document.getElementById('in').onclick = async () => {
  await GammalTech.login();
  await GammalTech.user.save({ language: 'ar' });
  const saved = await GammalTech.user.get();
  const tip = await GammalTech.ai.ask('Suggest a shop name', {
    system_prompt: 'You help small shops in Egypt.'
  });
  console.log(saved.language, tip);
};
</script>

What each line gives you: GammalTech.login() opens a sign in popup, and your site never stores a password or receives the user's email or phone number. GammalTech.user.save() keeps one small JSON object for each signed in user, and GammalTech.user.get() reads it back on any device. GammalTech.ai.ask() answers with text shaped by your system_prompt.

For payments, your AI can add a payment link, which is a normal web address that opens a secure checkout. The guide also tells it to verify every payment before delivering anything, which closes the fake success problem.

Know the limits before you plan. Saved data is per user only, so features that share data between users, such as public comments or a marketplace, need your own backend. It works on websites, not inside native mobile apps. Each person has one Gammal Tech account, and approval can take up to 10 days, so apply before your deadline. Current allowances and prices are in the guide.

Vibe coding in Egypt: what is different here?

The method is the same everywhere. A few practical points change when you build for people in Egypt:

  • Language. You can write your requests in Arabic or in English. Write in the language you think in, and say which language the page itself must use. If the page is Arabic, ask for a right to left layout.
  • How customers pay. Many customers in Egypt pay with an Egyptian bank card or from a wallet, and some pay from abroad with an international card. A payment link can serve each case, so tell your AI which one you need.
  • Client work. If you build for a client who should receive the money, the client opens their own Gammal Tech account and you build with the client's project. Payouts go to the verified owner of the account.
  • Graduation projects. Vibe coding can speed up a project, but the discussion committee will ask what you understand. See our graduation project ideas for computer science students in Egypt.
  • Your duties. Selling online can bring tax and licence duties. They stay your responsibility, so ask a qualified accountant.

The risks you must manage yourself

The AI writes the code, but the result carries your name. Check these points before anyone else uses your app:

  • Code you cannot read. If you cannot explain a part, ask the AI to explain it line by line before you keep it.
  • No tests. Click every path yourself: wrong input, cancelled payment, slow connection, second visit.
  • Too much personal data. Collect only what the feature needs. Less data means less to protect.
  • Trusting the address bar. Deliver a paid product only after the payment is verified, never because the page address says success.
  • Real money from the first try. There is no test mode for payments, so every payment is real. The guide explains how to test safely.

Should a beginner learn to code or only vibe code?

Do both. Vibe coding lets you build early, and building keeps you motivated. Fundamentals let you see when the AI is wrong, and it is wrong often enough to matter.

A path that works for many beginners:

  1. Learn how a web page is made: HTML for structure, CSS for appearance, JavaScript for behaviour.
  2. Build one small page by hand, slowly, so the words in the code mean something to you.
  3. Rebuild it with an AI assistant and compare the two versions.
  4. Add one real feature with a backend service, such as sign in, and test it the way a stranger would.

After that, each project teaches you more than a course does, because you are solving a problem you chose.

Questions people ask about vibe coding

What does vibe coding mean in simple words?

It means building software by describing what you want in normal language while an AI model writes the code. You test the result and guide the AI with feedback until it works.

Is vibe coding suitable for beginners in Egypt?

Yes, for small projects and for learning by building. Start with pages and simple tools, learn the basics of HTML, CSS and JavaScript on the side, and get help before you launch anything that holds user data or takes payments.

Can I build a complete app with vibe coding and no backend developer?

For many small web apps, yes, if a backend service handles sign in, saved data and payments for you. Features that share data between users still need a backend that you or someone else builds.

Should I write my prompts in Arabic or in English?

Both work. Use the language in which you can describe the result most precisely, and state the language of the final page. Keep code terms and method names exactly as the guide writes them.

Is a vibe coded app safe to launch?

Only after you tested it, understood the important parts and removed every secret from the page code. An app is safe because of the checks you ran, not because of the tool that wrote it.

Start with a focused project on Gammal Tech

If your account is already approved, start at step 2. Follow these actions inside your own account:

  1. Open the registration page, create your account once and complete the identity checks shown there. The standard document is a National ID from a country whose citizenship you hold; read the document requirements and limited Egyptian exceptions. Wait for approval before integration; approval can take up to 10 days.
  2. Sign in to your account, then open Developer Mode. You will see your project list.
  3. Select an existing project, or click Create Project for a new one. Open its page and record the project ID, pid. This is public configuration, not a secret key.
  4. In project settings, add the HTTPS domain that will run your website. Register the www hostname and the hostname without it separately if visitors use both.
  5. Follow this guide’s integration example or exercise on the registered website. Check one complete task from start to finish and record what happens before adding more features.

Then give your AI coding assistant the guide and your project ID, and ask for one feature at a time.
