Begin with a short description of the experience you want to buy. For a customer portal, it may be managed sign-in and saved preferences. For a number-verification product, it may be delivery to a particular contact number through WhatsApp.

A useful quote answers both the commercial and product questions: what is included, what usage is counted, who maintains the customer journey, and which markets are supported. Ask each provider for those answers rather than assuming all products called “authentication APIs” have the same scope.

The OTP allowance covers codes sent during login and checkout identity verification. It resets monthly and belongs to each project. Free login operations therefore do not mean unlimited free code delivery.

Your first project is free. Additional projects have a one-time creation fee paid from your wallet; check the amount displayed when creating a project. AI usage, owner notification emails and customer-payment fees are separate from this account-login comparison.

Monthly account OTP cost examples

The examples below apply the published account OTP rate to one project in one month. They cover OTP charges only and assume that the stated count is the total code usage for that project.

These are code counts, not customer counts. Estimate the code usage generated by your actual account and checkout journeys instead of assuming that every customer uses exactly one code per month. Review usage as the service grows.

Fund the project that uses the service

Your personal wallet and each project's balance are separate. First add EGP to your wallet. Then open the relevant project in the Developer Console and transfer funds into its balance.

Paid OTP usage is deducted from the project balance. Paid operations require a minimum balance of 0.01 EGP (approx. US$0.0002), and paid OTP operations stop when the project's balance runs out. Keeping money only in the wallet does not fund a project's paid usage.

Track the allowance and balance for every project you operate. This matters when one account manages several websites with different usage levels. Free login and storage features remain distinct from the paid code allowance.

Compare authentication offers fairly

• Required channel: confirm WhatsApp delivery and supported markets if they are essential to your product.
• Included account features: compare sign-in, session checks, saved data and contact privacy.
• Billing unit: establish whether the quoted charge is based on codes, messages, users or another measure.
• Additional costs: ask about setup, platform fees, usage beyond allowances and support.
• Customer journey: evaluate returning visits and the experience when access cannot be completed.
