Searching for a Firebase Authentication alternative usually starts with a practical question: which service fits the product, and what will the account experience cost as people use it?
A useful comparison starts with your requirements rather than a promise that one provider is always cheaper. Different account models can change the features you receive, the migration work involved, and the information your application can access.
Start with your product requirements
List what visitors need to do after signing in. A product that saves personal preferences has different requirements from one that must connect thousands of existing customer records or manage complex organization permissions.
For any provider, review the supported account experience, the data returned to your application, storage limits, usage charges, and what happens when a budget runs out. Use each provider’s current prices and feature limits when making your comparison. The table below sets out Gammal Tech’s account-related charges.
Published Gammal Tech authentication costs
Currency guide: Listed EGP prices are the billing amounts. USD figures are approximate, using USD 1 = EGP 51.78, the calculated midpoint of Banque Misr’s USD buying and selling rates on 24 September 2026. Your payment provider’s exchange rate and fees may differ.
| Feature | Cost or limit |
|---|---|
| Login, logout, and session verification | Free, with no operation-count charge listed. |
| User data storage | Free, with a maximum of 1 MB per user. |
| OTP codes | 200 per project per month, then 0.40 EGP (approx. US$0.0077) per additional code. |
| Project creation | First project free; additional projects have a one-time fee shown through the account. |
The OTP allowance covers codes sent during login and checkout identity verification. It resets monthly and is counted per project. It is an allowance for codes, not a published number of customers or guaranteed completed logins.
For example, 500 codes counted in one project’s month leave 300 chargeable codes after the allowance. At 0.40 EGP (approx. US$0.0077) each, that is 120 EGP (approx. US$2.32) in OTP charges. This illustration excludes other paid features and any additional-project fee.
Understand the personal wallet and project balance
Your Gammal Tech wallet is the personal account balance. Each project has its own prepaid balance for paid usage. Funding takes two steps: add money to the wallet, then transfer the desired amount into the project.
Paid OTP operations stop when the project balance runs out. A wallet with money in it is therefore not enough if the relevant project is unfunded. Review usage and replenish the project before you expect more chargeable codes.
AI features and owner-notification emails have their own prices. If your product uses them, include those costs separately rather than treating the authentication estimate as the total cost of your application.
Compare the account features as well as the price
- Hosted sign-in. Visitors reuse their existing Gammal Tech account in a login popup; they do not create another account for each website. Every Gammal Tech account requires national ID verification, and each person has only one account. Your application does not need a customer password database for this flow.
- Privacy boundaries. Gammal Tech does not disclose the underlying account name, email address, phone number, national ID number, or identity documents to your application. There is no API lookup for those identity details.
- Personal continuity. Your project can retrieve only customer data that it previously saved for the same account. Those saved values remain available across visits and devices after sign-in, within the per-user storage limit.
- Project setup. The browser API uses a public project identifier and domain whitelisting for registered HTTPS domains. There is no secret API key to manage.
- Session behavior. Sessions are kept per browser tab; a new tab or reopened browser requires sign-in again. Session tokens remain sensitive credentials and must be protected.
Evaluate each account feature against the needs of your customers and the way your product works.
Plan a provider change before switching customers
Customers who already have a Gammal Tech account reuse that account. Adding Gammal Tech sign-in does not migrate records, permissions, or purchase histories from your previous provider. Gammal Tech does not supply underlying identity or contact details for matching; linking an older customer database requires a separately designed process. Information customers enter into your own forms is a separate collection by your business, not an identity lookup from Gammal Tech.
Start with a defined use case and verify it end to end: owner-account setup, HTTPS domain registration, sign-in, saved preferences, sign-out, and project funding. Include migration and ongoing support work in the comparison alongside published usage prices.
Common questions
Can my app request identity details after the customer signs in?
No. National ID verification does not give your app access to the customer’s underlying identity details. Your project can retrieve only the customer data it previously stored for that account.
Are all OTP codes free?
No. Each project receives 200 OTP codes per month, and each additional code costs 0.40 EGP (approx. US$0.0077).
Is my personal wallet the project balance?
No. Top up the personal wallet, then transfer funds into the project balance that pays for chargeable usage.
Will changing providers automatically preserve old accounts?
Customers reuse their existing Gammal Tech account. Records held under your previous login system need an explicit account-linking process; Gammal Tech does not disclose underlying identity details to match them.
