The key idea
For an individual in Uganda, Gammal Tech combines National ID account verification with international card payment links. Commercial registration is not required for Gammal Tech's individual onboarding. Create a project, configure an HTTPS payment return page and share the link with a client. The earnings remain yours, and withdrawal is available only through an eligible bank account carrying your verified name, subject to current bank and platform requirements.
Separate the client's payment from your bank withdrawal
There are two journeys to arrange: how your client pays for the service, and how you receive your earnings. A card checkout solves the first. Your verified account, receiving-bank details and withdrawal conditions determine the second.
This distinction matters in Uganda. Absa Uganda describes domestic electronic transfers, domestic RTGS and international SWIFT payments as separate services. A bank account's domestic transfer details should not be assumed to contain everything needed for an international receipt.
Ask your bank for the instructions appropriate to receiving business or freelance income from abroad, including the account currency and any intermediary-bank information. Then confirm that route with Gammal Tech before collecting customer funds. The presence of a SWIFT service at a bank does not by itself confirm a particular Gammal Tech withdrawal route.
Build the offer around a job you can finish well
For a first service business, make the buying decision small and understandable. Sell a defined result: editing a recorded interview, repairing a specific website problem, preparing a presentation or reviewing a set of documents. State the inputs you need and the delivery date you can meet.
Illustrative example: A Kampala audio editor offers to clean and edit one interview for a client abroad. The offer specifies the maximum recording length, the final audio format and one revision. The editor sends the agreed card payment link, checks the recorded payment and delivers the finished file through the agreed channel.
This approach gives a new customer a clear reason to pay. A short before-and-after sample can explain the value more effectively than a long list of services. The payment link then belongs to a specific agreement rather than an unexplained request for money.
Your name is the owner of the income
Current registration documents: Use the National ID of a country whose citizenship you hold, not a residence-only ID. An Egyptian passport is accepted only for an Egyptian living abroad without their Egyptian National ID available. An Egyptian birth certificate is accepted only for an Egyptian living in Egypt, under 15, who has neither a National ID nor a passport. Check the official registration requirements before applying.
Create your own Gammal Tech account and verify your identity with the National ID of a country whose citizenship you hold. Gammal Tech does not require a company registration document for individual onboarding. You keep one personal account, and every payout follows that verified identity.
If a developer builds your service page, use your project and your payment setup. The developer can help with implementation, but should not receive your client revenue through their own account. The person who owns the earnings must own the verified payment account.
Keep spelling and name order consistent with the receiving bank's official records. Resolve an abbreviated name or a changed legal name before requesting a withdrawal. Borrowing someone else's bank account does not solve a mismatch.
Prepare these details before your first sale
| Prepare | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| National ID and your own account | Establish the real person who owns the earnings. |
| Bank receiving instructions | Confirm beneficiary name, account currency and the supported international route. |
| Service description and terms | Explain the work, delivery, revision limit and cancellation arrangements. |
| Project and HTTPS return page | Complete the payment setup before sharing a live link. |
| Order reference | Connect the payment record to the correct client agreement. |
You can sell through a portfolio, email or a direct client conversation. A large catalogue or full online store is not necessary for a defined service. A usable payment return page is still part of the Gammal Tech project setup.
Agree the currency and keep a usable earnings record
Use a supported checkout currency such as USD, EUR or GBP. A quote in one currency does not promise that your Ugandan bank will receive the same currency unchanged. Confirm the receiving arrangement and any conversion before budgeting your earnings.
Check the current payment fees and withdrawal rules when setting your price. Both merchant-side and customer-side charges should be understood. Transfer fees are deducted from the withdrawal amount, so reconcile the gross sale, applicable deductions and final bank receipt as separate entries.
Keep the client agreement, invoice or applicable sales record, payment reference and delivered work together. Gammal Tech handles the VAT and tax obligations assigned to it under its service arrangements. Your own income tax, local registration and reporting obligations remain separate from permission to open an individual payment account.
Add repeat work after the first service is reliable
A satisfied client may need another recording edited next month. First agree the continuing scope and how either party can end the arrangement. Gammal Tech documents monthly and yearly recurring card payments through guest links in supported non-EGP currencies. Use a recurring link only when the client has clearly agreed to recurring charges.
You can also remain with individual one-time payments when assignments vary. The right arrangement is the one both parties understand and you can reconcile accurately. For automatic service access, have a trusted system validate payment details and record delivery once.
If you travel or move later, the account still belongs to you. An eligible bank account in another supported country can be considered only in that same verified name. Confirm destination and currency details before switching the receiving account.
Common questions
Can a Ugandan freelancer open an individual payment account?
Gammal Tech supports individual onboarding with National ID verification and does not require commercial registration for that account. Confirm your activity and eligible same-name bank receiving route before accepting payments.
Does a client need a Ugandan bank account to pay?
The guest card link is a card checkout rather than instructions for a domestic Ugandan bank transfer. The customer needs a supported card and must meet the checkout and card issuer's requirements.
Can I withdraw to a family member's bank account?
No. Gammal Tech pays earnings only to an eligible bank account in the same verified name as the account owner.
Are mobile-money payouts included?
The documented Gammal Tech payout route is a same-name bank account. Do not assume that local mobile-money services are supported for either collection or withdrawals.
Where can I find current fees?
The central Gammal Tech integration guide contains the current fees, withdrawal conditions and refund rules. Check it before quoting a client or arranging a withdrawal.
