The key idea

Gammal Tech lets you apply as an individual without commercial registration as a provider onboarding requirement. Verify your identity with the National ID of a country whose citizenship you hold, prepare an eligible bank account in the same name and configure a payment-enabled project. You can then share a guest card payment link with clients. In Sri Lanka, plan the receiving bank account and service-export documentation alongside checkout, because collecting a card payment and receiving its proceeds are separate steps.

Start with a service a customer can buy

A useful first offer is specific: a website review, a set of product photographs, a translation package or an online lesson. Write down the deliverable, what the client must supply, the delivery date and the revision allowance. This makes a payment request easy to understand and gives both sides a record of what was agreed.

Illustrative example: A translator in Kandy offers a Sinhala-to-English product-catalogue adaptation to a client in Singapore. The proposal identifies the supplied entries, an approved terminology list and one review round. Once the client approves, the translator sends a card payment link for the agreed first milestone.

The payment link closes the gap between a conversation and an order. You can share it through email or a message instead of asking the client to navigate a full online shop.

Choose the route around your customer

When comparing a payment gateway in Sri Lanka, begin with where your customers are and how they want to pay. A direct overseas client, a local customer and a marketplace buyer can need different arrangements.

Gammal Tech's individual route is useful when you want to build your own service and customer relationship. It does not provide customers, replace your contract or promise compatibility with every bank.

Prepare the Sri Lankan bank side before your first sale

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka's Department of Foreign Exchange FAQ distinguishes service-export proceeds from goods-export proceeds. It says service-export proceeds must be repatriated within the applicable period, while they are not subject to mandatory conversion. It also describes Business Foreign Currency Accounts for residents earning foreign exchange from non-residents.

That distinction gives you a practical question for your bank: which account should receive the proceeds from your particular service? Describe what you sell and explain that an overseas payment platform will remit the proceeds. Ask about the account currency, required invoices and payment references, and current repatriation requirements.

Then confirm the proposed bank details and payout currency with Gammal Tech support. A foreign-currency account or a SWIFT code alone does not establish that a particular withdrawal can be processed. Keep your service agreement, payment record and bank credit together so the origin of the money remains clear.

Set up your individual account and payment project

Current registration documents: Use the National ID of a country whose citizenship you hold, not a residence-only ID. An Egyptian passport is accepted only for an Egyptian living abroad without their Egyptian National ID available. An Egyptian birth certificate is accepted only for an Egyptian living in Egypt, under 15, who has neither a National ID nor a passport. Check the official registration requirements before applying.

  1. Create your account. Start at Gammal Tech registration and complete National ID verification. The account belongs to you as one verified person.
  2. Prepare your receiving account. Its holder's name must match your verified identity. Resolve any name discrepancy before requesting a withdrawal.
  3. Create a project. Open developer mode and configure the required HTTPS Payment Callback URL. Payments remain disabled until this setting is in place.
  4. Create the card link. Use the payment link generator with your project, agreed amount and supported currency.
  5. Send the request with context. Include the service description, order reference and agreed delivery terms.

Sharing a guest payment link needs no SDK installation, secret key or domain whitelisting. You do still need the project's callback configuration; a full ecommerce store is unnecessary. A client paying through the guest card route does not need a Gammal Tech account.

Quote clearly and confirm payment before starting work

Choose a supported checkout currency, such as USD, EUR or GBP, and make it explicit in the proposal. The checkout currency does not guarantee that your bank receives or retains the same currency. Review the current fees and withdrawal rules before quoting, including merchant charges, customer charges and the transfer fees deducted from a withdrawal.

For your first clients, use a simple order record containing the agreed scope, payment reference, currency and work status. Check the transaction in your merchant records before treating an order as paid. A customer's screenshot or arrival on a confirmation page is not sufficient evidence by itself.

For monthly services, recurring guest links can support monthly or yearly billing in supported non-EGP currencies. Agree the service period and cancellation terms clearly before choosing recurring billing.

Keep a business you can carry forward

Your verified personal account can remain the centre of your payment process as your service grows. If you later travel or relocate, an eligible account you own in another supported country may be used for withdrawals, subject to the receiving bank and applicable rules. The same-name requirement continues to apply.

For a Sri Lankan resident, using an overseas platform does not remove applicable service-export repatriation obligations. Review your banking arrangements when your residence changes. Gammal Tech handles the VAT and tax obligations assigned to it under its service arrangements; your personal income tax, local registration and reporting obligations remain separate.

Begin with one well-defined offer and a confirmed payout route. A reliable first payment process gives you something useful to repeat for the next client.

Common questions

Can I apply to Gammal Tech without a registered company in Sri Lanka?

Yes. Gammal Tech's individual onboarding does not require commercial registration. You must complete identity verification, and your own local registration, tax and service-export obligations remain separate.

Can an overseas client pay without opening a Gammal Tech account?

Yes. The guest card payment link lets the customer pay without a Gammal Tech account. Wallet payments use a different account-based flow.

Will a USD payment arrive in my Sri Lankan bank as USD?

Not automatically. Checkout currency and bank payout currency are separate. Confirm the receiving account, currency and conversion arrangements with your bank and Gammal Tech support before collecting funds.

Can I withdraw to a relative's account?

No. Withdrawals are restricted to an eligible bank account in the same name as the verified Gammal Tech account holder.

Start with an account in your own name

Follow these actions in order. An already approved account can go straight to project setup:

  1. Create a Gammal Tech account in the name of the person who will receive the earnings and complete the registration checks. Wait for account approval before project setup; review can take up to 10 days. If that account is already approved, continue to the next step.
  2. Sign in and open Developer Mode. Select your project or click Create Project, then open its settings.
  3. Set the Payment Callback URL, an HTTPS page where customers return after checkout, then enable payments. Record the project ID, pid.
  4. Check current charges, refund conditions and withdrawal rules before setting the customer price. Prepare an eligible receiving bank account in the verified person’s name. Transfer fees are deducted from the withdrawal amount.
  5. Open the payment link generator. Enter that project ID, the agreed amount, currency and recognizable description. Review the generated link before sharing it with the customer.
  6. After the customer pays, check the transaction record and match the project, order, amount and currency before delivery. A return-page visit or screenshot alone is not payment confirmation.

Already approved? Open your project and use the payment link generator. Review the current payment fees, withdrawal conditions and refund rules before setting your customer price.
